The Perfect Balance

Because we were the first class of Summer Associates back after the pandemic, I was not sure what to expect when it came to socializing and meeting new people. However, the past two weeks allowed me to meet and build connections with more people than I could have imagined. Not only have we been able to enjoy social outings that include a wide range of fun activities, but we are also getting familiarized with the office and potential areas of law we might want to practice. There has been a perfect balance between developing social connections and exploring different avenues Weil has to offer in developing my legal career.

I knew that Weil was going to be a great fit for me after the Summer Sibling lunch on our first day. Getting to meet my Summer Sibling and hear her experiences at Weil made me excited for the future. I appreciated how candid she was and realized very quickly that she was going to be someone I relied on throughout the summer. Not only has my sibling been a great resource to have, but there have been so many other people that are willing to take the time to get to know me and explain their experiences at Weil. For example, I walked past a partner’s office on my third day to introduce myself and he was quick to offer to take me and another associate to coffee. As I continue to have interactions like this, I am realizing how easy it is to make friendly bonds that also will help me determine the type of work I want to do in the future.

Although I have only been here for only two weeks, I already am starting to feel a sense of comfort and normalcy, especially after over two years of limited interaction due to the pandemic. I hope that as the weeks continue, I will have the opportunity to learn more about the different practice areas and meet even more new people.
