A Warm Welcome to Weil
Even from my initial set of interviews to join Weil at the beginning of my 2L year, I felt that the firm and its lawyers were eager to welcome me and to get to know me. This feeling was reaffirmed every step of the way, and hasn’t stopped since starting the Summer Associate Program. I am now approaching the end of my sixth week, and I feel even more welcomed now than I did back in my application process.
The Summer Program has been filled with events, panels, and receptions—which have all been exciting and engaging. What has stood out to me even more, however, is the smaller, daily interactions I have with people throughout the firm. Attorneys, from first year associates to partners, have popped into my office to introduce themselves and note that their door is always open. When I have been staffed on a new matter, the attorneys frequently include a “welcome to the team” message, which makes me feel not just like an intern rotating through the department for a brief period, but instead like a valued, integral part of the matter. Attorneys are eager to grab coffee and engage in two-way dialogues, and conversations wrap up with offers to meet again for whatever I might need. I have not only learned about practice areas and the work I’m most interested in this summer, but I have also learned that Weil is the place I want to be.
