First Assignments

NEW YORK – My first weeks at Weil have gone by so quickly! It has been an amazing experience. These weeks have reaffirmed what I already knew: I made the right decision by choosing Weil.

My assignment coordinator does a great job of giving me assignments according to my preferences. So far, I have worked on a variety of challenging and interesting assignments from different practice groups. This gives you the opportunity to learn more about the various practice groups and network with the attorneys in each. I have written a couple of memos on securities and employment litigation issues, attended client meetings, and presented my research to the partner on the case.

Next week, I will be shadowing an associate and a partner on a pretrial witness interview preparation. The observational assignments are my favorite!  They give you insight into how attorneys interact with each other and clients, and learning from some of the best attorneys in their respective fields is invaluable experience.  You also benefit by talking with a partner or associate about the case, expanding your knowledge about the law, and enhancing your practice-related skills.

All of the attorneys have been excellent.  And the feedback I have received has been helpful.  It is very apparent that everyone wants you to succeed.  This is going to be a great summer!
